The Deans’ Council of Al-Zaeem Al-Azhari University convened its fourth meeting of the year on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. (Sudan time) via Google Meet. The session was chaired by Professor Nasr Al-Din Mohamed Ahmed Sharif, University President, with the participation of Dr. Ashraf Ezz Al-Din Shagdi, Vice President; Professor Ibtihal Gamal El-Din, Dean of Academic Affairs; Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulwahab, Provost; along with faculty deans and department directors.

The meeting opened with recitation from the Holy Qur’an. In his remarks, Professor Sharif extended condolences on the passing of distinguished faculty members, particularly Professor Ismat Metwally Shaheen, Professor of Surgery at the University. He expressed gratitude to the outgoing deans — Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim Howly, Dr. Nagat Abdulrahim, and Professor Fawzia Sati — for their contributions, and warmly welcomed the newly appointed leaders: Dr. Mousa Omar (Dean, Faculty of Medical Laboratories), Dr. Abbas Al-Kinzy (Dean, Institute of Sudanese Studies), and Professor Ismail Shabo (Director, Investment Department), wishing them success in their new roles.

The Council approved the minutes of the previous meeting and reviewed final preparations for the September 2025 examinations, which will take place from September 6–25, 2025. Examination centers will be located in Kosti, Kassala, Atbara, and Omdurman, as well as in Cairo and Jeddah for international candidates.

Members also discussed the university’s damage assessment following the recent conflict. The Provost reported on the rehabilitation of the Wad Nubawi Campus, which is being readied to host the upcoming exams. Several administrative offices have already been restored to allow some departments to resume operations, with full restoration work ongoing.

Professor Sharif emphasized the importance of reactivating key administrative units as a step toward the complete return of all departments. He also underscored the university’s commitment to digital transformation, thanking the Faculty of Computer Science for its proactive role and announcing the formation of a Digital Transformation Policy Committee in the near future.

The meeting further highlighted the launch of an initiative by Dr. Omar Ahmed Ibrahim, Dean of Student Affairs, under the slogan “A Hand to Build and a Mind to Advance”. The initiative will begin on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, in front of the University’s main administration building.

In conclusion, the University President thanked all Council members for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
